Top 5 Reasons to Try Gimkit in Your Classroom TODAY!

top 5 reasons to try gimkit in y

In this article I’ll highlight the top 5 reasons to try Gimkit. I produced a YouTube #Shorts video on this topic as well. You can check that out here in less than 60 seconds.

What is Gimkit?

Gimkit.com is a gamified study and learning tool. Created by (former) high school student Josh Feinsilber, Gimkit is awesome. The main idea is to make learning and studying both fun and memorable. The mission statement of Gimkit is “to create memorable learning experiences.”

Is Gimkit free?

Gimkit has two main tiers of use. First of all, the free version is available to all students and teachers. There are a few limits on how many “kits” you can have in the free version. (A “kit” is a study set of terms or questions.) Also, the free version limits how often you can edit the kits. The paid version, currently $60 a year, eliminates these restrictions.

The Reasons!

Reason Number 5: Google Integration.

Gimkit has gone the extra mile to make sure students can access the program easily and quickly. THAT makes all the difference for TEACHERS!!! Every teacher knows technology is only good if it is accessible. Helping kids get started quickly is the best.
When students login to Chrome browser or a Chromebook, they simply go to Gimkit.com. Once there, if a game isn’t live, they can login with Google. If you have a game live and waiting, the software recognizes them and automatically puts them in the game. No code… SIMPLY AWESOME!

Reason Number 4: Assignments.

When you assign a kit to students they have to master the terms. When they master a term Gimkit presents them with other terms. These sessions collect the data for you as well! The gamified nature is what makes it engaging to kids. This data from assignments and game sessions is fed into reports in the paid version.

Reason Number 3: Reports.

On the back end of Gimkit, teachers with paid accounts get to see exactly what students have mastered. They can see tiome spent on task, words that were continually missed and much more. This data can help you individually coach students or adjust the flow of class curriculum based on data!

Reason Number 2: Kitcollabs.

A Kitcollab is a study set that the students colaborate on. I often partner this with an article or reading assignment to bolster vocabulary borth in and outside of my content area. Check out the tutorial on that here.

This feature of Gimkit is great for developing vocabulary and literacy with kids. Check their understanding and progress by having kids generate a list of words they didn’t know. Then from the list, study and play as a class. Amazing!

And the TOP Reason to Try Gimkit…. FUN& VARIETY!!!

The number of game modes available keeps things fresh. Gimkit is also constantly innovating and releasing new modes. Recently an “Among Us” themed version blew up online with the popularity of the internet game ramping the motivation! Check out my tutorial on that mode here. It’s easy and CRAZY FUN!!!

The variety and fun makes Gimkit the easiest platform to recommend and continue to use. Kids never get bored playing! All game modes are highlighted in this video, but they have games for individuals, teams, zombies, and even super heroes…
